Start with the wall and the viewing position
Measure the available wall area and the furniture below it. Tell us where you will usually see the painting from: the doorway, a sofa or your desk. Horizontal and vertical formats create different rhythms. You can tape up a paper rectangle in the proposed size and photograph it from across the room. This helps you judge scale before choosing a canvas, while the final dimensions still need to be agreed.
Choose colours you enjoy, beyond matching the furniture
Save two or three catalogue paintings and explain their appeal: quiet light, vivid colour, a landscape or an unusual image. The painting does not have to repeat the sofa’s exact shade. Tell us whether you prefer a gentle connection with the room or a stronger focal point. Photograph the space in its usual daylight and evening lighting without filters. A screen colour is a reference, not an exact paint sample.
An existing original or a new composition
For an existing work, send its link and ask about current availability, dimensions and price. For a commission, describe the atmosphere, format and meaningful details. Discuss framing, packaging, delivery and your preferred arrival date separately. A useful opening might be: “I am looking for a horizontal landscape above my sofa; I like warm light and Canyon Keeper.” This gives the artist a concrete starting point for your commission.
What to send the artist
- A photograph of the room and measurements of the available wall.
- Two or three portfolio links and what you like about them.
- A proposed format, colours and subject you would enjoy.
- Destination city, preferred date, budget and framing questions.
Commission questions
- Can I choose a painting for a finished interior?
- Yes. Start with room photographs and measurements. You can discuss a catalogue work or a custom composition; availability and terms are confirmed directly.
- Is framing included in the painting price?
- Ask for the scope of the order. Confirm whether framing, packaging and delivery are included before agreeing to purchase.
