Which photographs to send
Choose a picture with a clearly visible face and expression, without heavy filters or blur. Extra photographs help clarify features, but identify the main angle you prefer. If you only have an old or small image, send it for assessment. Feasibility and the level of detail need to be agreed in advance, not assumed.
Likeness, atmosphere and background
Tell us what matters most: a restrained realistic image, expressive colour or a symbolic composition. Our gallery shows portraits combined with landscapes and unusual backgrounds. The work illustrating this article shows an artistic direction, not a documented commission from a particular photograph. For a family portrait, specify the number of people and their arrangement.
Planning a portrait as a gift
Share the painting size, gift date and destination city. Before confirming a commission, agree on its scope, price, approval process and whether delivery is possible by your deadline. Only send photographs you have permission to provide for this purpose. Identity documents and unrelated personal information are not needed.
What to send the artist
- A main photograph and a few additional views.
- Who is depicted, the mood and the most important details.
- Number of people, canvas size and background preferences.
- Gift date, destination city and a budget guide.
Commission questions
- Can people from separate photographs appear together?
- We can discuss that idea. Send the photographs together so the artist can assess the angles, lighting and proposed composition.
- Does the painting have to repeat the photographic background?
- No. You can suggest a different background or artistic treatment and agree it with the artist. Explain which details of the photograph must be retained.
